Trick or Treat!

Happy Belated Halloween! This year, we had planned on going to my mother's house to trick or treat with Julianna in her town. Well.... the weather canceled many people's plans including our own. We skipped my mom's house since they were saying not to trick or treat there. Snowmageddon hit on Saturday and stuck around for a while along with the down trees, down power lines & no power for thousands in our area! So because of the situation, many towns postponed their trick or treating until next weekend. Their thinking was, no one wants their kids running around on Halloween night with dangerous downed wires & downed trees. I agree.
Our town didn't feel it was necessary to postpone Halloween. Way to go Hopatcong. Luckily that choice did not affect us, as we just walked to a few neighbors houses with Julianna, and then drove to visit baby Jake (ok he's not quite a baby anymore, he is the same age as Julianna!), and Miss Cathy (Julianna's daycare provider). Then we went out to eat at our favorite local pizza place with tons of other trick or treaters. Everyone was in Franks for dinner on Halloween night!

My husband (Brian) walking with our little Giraffe!
(You can see the snow is melting pretty fast in 2 days time... orange leaves with snow. Weird huh?)

 Mommy with baby giraffe.

Eager to get to the next house around the corner!

Our neighbors were very generous with giving Julianna her first Tricks & Treats!

Walking to the next house. Julianna got the hang of this fun stuff right away!

"Oooh, what did I get? What's in here?"

"Trick or Treat. Smell my Giraffe feet!"

Julianna was a bit scared of Winnie the Pooh! She did not know what to think! Brian had to pick her up and bring her to him. She just stared at this poor guy like "What are you???" haha!

OK time to go home now. All tuckered out.

Happy Halloween! How did everyone else celebrate? Dis you dress up or did your kids dress up?

Snowmageddon - October in NJ

This has been the craziest year for weather. First Hurricane Irene in August, then Tropical Storm Lee in September... then Snowmageddon in October this past Saturday! Did I mention we are in NJ? We don't normally get this here. I guess maybe this is the "Norm" now. We got 14 or 15 inches of snow. October... yeah right.

The leaves are still on the trees! What in the world is going on with this weather?! The snow is finally melting now, and the red/orange leaves are popping through again. We were fortunate not to lose power this time. We did lose power for 4 days during the hurricane. Some of my friends lost power this time, and a few do not have their power back yet still! Our schools here have been off for 2 days and they are off again tomorrow due to power issues still. Most towns in our area even postponed Halloween until next weekend (except my town - I guess they did not care if kids roam around with down trees & down power lines all over!).

I don't even have a snowsuit for Julianna to go out in the snow with. She does however get to wear her Uggs for the first time. Love it!

My poor Begonias!

The birds can't find their birdhouse!

Not going out on the deck any time soon.

My poor husband didn't think he would have to brush the dust off his snow blower so soon!

See the leaves on the trees? So much for "Fall".
