Snowmageddon - October in NJ

This has been the craziest year for weather. First Hurricane Irene in August, then Tropical Storm Lee in September... then Snowmageddon in October this past Saturday! Did I mention we are in NJ? We don't normally get this here. I guess maybe this is the "Norm" now. We got 14 or 15 inches of snow. October... yeah right.

The leaves are still on the trees! What in the world is going on with this weather?! The snow is finally melting now, and the red/orange leaves are popping through again. We were fortunate not to lose power this time. We did lose power for 4 days during the hurricane. Some of my friends lost power this time, and a few do not have their power back yet still! Our schools here have been off for 2 days and they are off again tomorrow due to power issues still. Most towns in our area even postponed Halloween until next weekend (except my town - I guess they did not care if kids roam around with down trees & down power lines all over!).

I don't even have a snowsuit for Julianna to go out in the snow with. She does however get to wear her Uggs for the first time. Love it!

My poor Begonias!

The birds can't find their birdhouse!

Not going out on the deck any time soon.

My poor husband didn't think he would have to brush the dust off his snow blower so soon!

See the leaves on the trees? So much for "Fall".

  3. Holy crapola, girl!!! That is a LOT of snow! And I was whining about the “dusting” I had to look at in the back yard! poor thing. Poor begonias. Here’s hoping this was just a big, freaky Halloween scare and the rest of our winter will be calm and mild. Yikes.

  5. Wow! You got a ton of snow! I would so be out there trying to dust (um...sweep?) off the begonias! ;) I don't know how a whole town postpones Halloween...do they do that with Christmas if it snows in December? Actually, I do remember living in a small town when I was a teenager and the whole town went trick-or-treating on Saturday because Halloween was on a Sunday, lol!

  7. Oh yes, I still can't beleive all the snow we got! Today (thurs) the snow is pretty much gone! Amazing. Yeah i never heard of postponing halloween either, but I guess with so many power outages & downed power lines in so many towns, it was the right call in my opinion.
KIds could get hurt with so much damage not cleaned up yet.
I felt bad for the kids in other towns, but at least they will all get to trick or treat this weekend safely!
